Don't give up, you never know she just might wake up. I am amazed at the ones who are finding out it is a pack of lies. I know you have read Steve Hassons book so that will help you with what you are doing. You obviously love your parents a lot so be careful, you don't want them to shun you before you get them out.

breakup guilt
by fresh prince of ohio ini recently broke up with my girlfriend of four years.. she is 40 years old, with health problems, financial problems, little family/friend support, and facing an uncertain future.
i gave her some money.. the guilt i am experiencing right now is absolutely anguishing.
she had very, very high hopes about our relationship and loved me very deeply.

Go back and reread all of the posts on this topic and maybe you can see what the rest of us are seeing. If you are bound and determined to get back together then I would suggest you both go together for counseling and that way they will help you both grow. You will either make your relationship better or you will both get mentally healthier and stronger to move on alone.

Do you detect an underlying sadness ?
by Phizzy inwhenever i talk to jw's, and even in some of the jw official videos, i detect a definite vibe of sadness coming off these people.. i am very sensitive to "atmospheres" and to peoples emotional state, you wouldn't think so, because more often than not i do not react to what i detect, i just let people get on with it.. but i do get this feeling that they are sad, probably because very, very, very deep down they realise that it is all false, maybe ?.

This made me think about my mother in law who is in her mid 80's and this is all she knows. She was raised as a witness and they told them they should never marry or have children because the end would be here any day now. Whenever my husband talks to her she is so depressed because she thought the new system would have been here by now and most of her friends are gone. She realizes that she will be gone soon also and it still isn't here.
A friend of ours whose parents are in their late 80's and early 90's told me they are acting the same way. They have even become desperate to get them to go back to meetings. They have been out for years so they weren't aware of the crazy new changes but when they read about the new light and the December 2013 article Cedars posted they could see why they have become so desperate.
I am just thankful I woke up because I was once one of those depressed and very unhappy witnesses.

Has The Society, or Any Bro or Sis, Ever Screwed You Out Of Your Money?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inthis thread was inspired because of 3rdgn, and her asking, on behalf of her destitute elderly widowed mom,.
for the return of her mother's "conditional loan" to the society of $20,000.00.. (this was stated today, under my thread of, "what was the effect on you of knowing hypocritical jw's?").
the society more or less yes, no, it is now our money, and you can't have it back.

We too have had many who borrowed money or didn't pay for work done. For the most part we have never tried to hire or get work from the witnesses because there are too many problems from it. Their attitude is you owe us since you are doing better financially.
We even went in and finished up a kitchen remodel that another brother started at a house where the husband was a witness but the wife wasn't. He really screwed them over and the brother went to the body of elders about it because the wife was threatening to leave, my husband was an elder at the time and he agreed to finish the job with the little bit of money that was left. When they brought the brother in to decide how to handle the matter my husband was the only one not in on the committee matter because he agreed to help the brother. By the way, this brother had done this to many other people, they did not DF him and he is now an elder still doing the same crap!
I have a few stories and they all involve elders taking advantage of us financially. One had the condition that he needed to pay back his money he owed before they made him a servant again but the COBE that gave him that ultimative moved away and a year later they appointed him and he still owes us over $1200

The GB Want More Gimme Gimme Feed Me More Money, What Do We Get?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inif we keep dishing out cash, to pay for all of our wonderful new light and spiritual food, have we, in return, actually only been fed garbage?.
example.. when they tell us not to bring up anything in older publications, because it is no long considered "the truth"(tm), was it ever the truth(tm)?.
have we been strung along for 130 years, on imitation food, masquerading, as real food?.

That is so true Lois. The congregation we were in before we left started to have a lot of problems getting money in every month and it was a middle class area. They had a nice reserve and use to get more than was needed but a few years ago that all changed. Every month that reserve would dwindle and I haven't been there for over a year so I am not sure where it stands now but I hope it continues to go down.

I definitely saw this before I left. I felt there was so much depression and negative talk. There were very few that were happy and you could even see the fake smiles on so many of them. I remember telling my husband before we woke up and left that people just were not happy and you could feel it in the air. I got to the point where I didn't want to go because it wasn't a happy place in spite of what the WTBTS says about the brothers and sisters being a happy people.

This topice interests me too because we too have a few JW's that work for us and we have faded. They would lose a a great paying job plus we are not hard to work for. At this point we will stay faded but you never known how things will turn out with the strong councel the have been giving lately. There are not plenty of good paying jobs out there so I wonder what your employees would do. Keep us up to date and I wish you only the best. You sure have had your share this year.

Feeling Sick
by FreeGirl2006 injust found out my 12 year old niece got baptized on saturday.
that is the same age i got baptized....as we all know it just should not be allowed.
if a child is not mature enough in other areas of life how can they be mature enough to commit their lives to the borg?

I am sorry to hear that. When I was in I was pretty vocal about young children and teens getting baptized. I would tell others I don't understand why they are allowed when Jesus wasn't baptized until he was 30. Of course we all know the real reason for it is control.
